Today you’ll keep exploring Florence with your local City Guide. The focus will be on the Medici Family, who ruled Florence and transformed the city into the birthplace of the Renaissance.
As you visit Palazzo Medici-Riccardi (Medici House), the Church of San Lorenzo, and the Medici Chapels, you’ll get a glimpse into the Medici’s intriguing life—their power, their passion for the arts, and the important roles Medici women played in this powerful family.
After the tour, enjoy lunch on your own and an afternoon at leisure. It may be the perfect opportunity to head to the outlet mall outside Florence or explore boutique shops in the city. If so, one of your stops may be the Officina Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, one of the oldest pharmacies in the world, founded by Dominican friars in 1221. The pharmacy used medicinal herbs grown in the monastic gardens to make medications, balms, and pomades for the monks’ infirmary.
Please reserve some time to pack for morning checkout.
The group gathers again in the evening for a delicious farewell dinner. Delizioso! Tonight will be your last night of the tour, so make it special!
